Must See Youth Ministry Evangelism Video

Do you have a hard time getting people to invite others to church? Don’t worry, Johnny and Chachi are here to help. Although, you may want to brainstorm a few of your own ideas.

This video is suppose to instruct you on some easy ways to invite your neighbors to church… however Chachi kinda butchered his part. Either way, take a look.

How do you transition out of a Youth Ministry position? Pt2

Part 2:

In this Vlog I answer the question “How do you transition out of a Youth Ministry position?” Often we are great starters of ministry but not so good with the finish. There are a lot of resources out there on how to get in to Youth Ministry and not a lot on how to transition out. I believe we are to perfect both.

Blessings

To Grout Or Not To Grout

Youth will be Youth

Youth will be Youth - People are people…

No matter how you slice it, wherever you go, people will always still be people. And youth will always be youth. Understanding this is a great challenge in youth ministry.

I can remember back 12 years ago as a young and ambitious 19 year old youth worker; My first assignment: create and facilitate a youth drama team. I called it “The Show” and later the name was changed to just “echo”. Echo became more than just a drama team but a once a month “youth explosion” night.

Thinking back about my effort to build the drama team I can recall some of the many frustrations in dealing with teens. I remember thinking to myself that at some point everything would change. Like the really hyper active kid that is always breaking some thing might actually calm down and contribute to the group. Or the girl who’s neurotic and psychotic and always seems to stress out over weird details might actually enjoy herself for once.

The truth is: teens are awkward and weird at times

Now, after having pastored hundreds of youth and traveled cross country observing other youth ministries, I realize that some things will never change. Youth will always be youth… And I’m okay with that.

Hang in there – even when at times it feels like your riding a bull in a rodeo. I recently received an amazing 5 page email from one of my former students who is now a young adult. This 20-something reminded me of all the reasons I’ve stayed in youth ministry over the years.

You see, being a youth pastor isn’t a stepping stone on your way to becoming a “Real Pastor”; but it is the opportunity to mold the next generation of believers of Christ. Youth are flexible, bendable and pliable. Not stuck in their ways created by years and years of habits. They’re beautiful, amazing, and creative. All they need, is you to unlock their potential. To believe in them.

So go ahead and plant a seed today. You may not see the fruit for many years to come…but stay focused, committed and on the path.

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 ESV

Youth Ministry Webinar pt1

This past semester I’ve been teaching a class at Christian Life College entitled Youth Ministry Seminar. I’ve had the honor and privilege of teaching this class for a few years now and I absolutely love it.

For some reason it seems like the students in this class are always energized and enthusiastic about youth ministry. There’s something so exciting about taking a group of young and ambitious college students and teaching them how to do youth work the right way. Never gets old!

This past week we did a panel-style webinar and recorded it. The special guest speakers were David McGovern, Jacob Pereida, and Adam Shaw(all three world class). Since I’ve had such a high volume of request for this video I’m going to be posting it piece by piece here on this blog. Feel free to link to or share with someone else.

enjoy!

The Great White North

A couple of months ago I had the opportunity to minister up in the “Great White North”(wasn’t so white). Hamilton, Ontario Canada is home to an amazing apostolic ministry. Under the direction of Pastor Michael Shaw, Lifepoint church is located smack dab in downtown Hamilton and is efficiently reaching this urban community.

By far the finest urban ministry I’ve seen out there.

I was so blessed to be a part of their youth-week. Adam Shaw the Youth/Associates Pastor is one of the most brilliant dudes I’ve ever met. He and his wife(Stephanie) lead an amazing team. They organized the week and came up with the theme “Artwork”. What was most incredible about this event is that it not only looked stellar, but was spiritually connected too.

Oh! And I can now check Niagara Falls off my list of things to do.
